NexusLA Hosts Historic Visit for Her Royal Highness, Queen of Buganda
Nexus Louisiana is honored to have officially hosted a visit from Her Royal Highness Sylvia Nagginda Luswata, Queen of Buganda, to Louisiana. In collaboration with Madam President Pro Tempore Senator Regina Ashford Barrow, this historic visit has enhanced the connection between Louisiana and Buganda, while also promoting global entrepreneurship and partnership.
"This program enables our entrepreneurs to partner internationally to expand their companies, serving as a gateway for entrepreneurs from other countries to conduct business in Louisiana," explained Calvin Mills Jr. with Nexus Louisiana.
First Stop, Southern University
Upon the arrival of Her Royal Highness, a visit to our local college, Southern University, was made. This warm welcome included discussions about a potential exchange program between Southern and a prestigious university in Uganda.
This exciting initiative is centered around creating opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers to engage in cross-cultural learning experiences, academic partnerships, and joint research projects. With the aim to broaden Louisiana's horizons, create an exchange of knowledge, and foster collaboration, this program will generate more international opportunities for the academic community in Baton Rouge and across the state.
Opportunities Exchanged at CEO Roundtable
Multiple CEOs, entrepreneurs, and leaders gathered to hear from Her Royal Highness at the Nexus Louisiana Technology Park. Queen Sylvia Nagginda Luswata shared why she chose to partner with Nexus Louisiana, along with the present opportunities the Kingdom of Buganda offers to entrepreneurs in Louisiana.
Uganda’s entrepreneurial scene is booming, with tech startups making waves in sectors like fintech, health tech, agritech, and e-commerce. These incredible opportunities create additional space for our local small business owners to grow and expand their market to consumers across the globe.
Close Out, Louisiana State Capitol
Her Royal Highness Sylvia Nagginda Luswata, Queen of Buganda, concluded her historic visit to Baton Rouge at the Louisiana Capital. As Queen Sylvia Nagginda Luswata stood before local government leaders, she announced the appointment of Calvin Mills Jr. as special advisor to the Queen for Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Along with Mills, Madam President Pro Tempore Senator Regina Barrow is now appointed as advisor of Government Affairs to the Queen.
This trip marks the beginning of a journey of our partnership and collaboration with the Kingdom of Buganda. As we work together to foster strong relationships and create a future that benefits both our communities, we are excited to continue seeking out the opportunities and innovative ideas that lie ahead.
